General Operative / Loop General Operative
Location: Dublin
Salary: €41,703 – €43,788
Reporting to: Service Delivery Manager
Your Challenge
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Operative / Loop General Operative to join our team in Dublin.
In this role, you will support the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) equipment, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will play a key role in supporting both project delivery and maintenance activities, contributing to the safe and reliable operation of transport infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
- Install and maintain ITS equipment to a high standard
- Liaise professionally with customers, colleagues, and management
- Complete all required administrative tasks (timesheets, job numbers, stock requisitions, vehicle records)
- Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and methodologies
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and PPE in a safe and serviceable condition
- Support, guide and share knowledge with colleagues, including trainees and apprentices
Key Activities
- Loop cutting, installation, and commissioning
- Attend and resolve Class 1, 2 & 3 faults (as trained)
- Prepare, assemble, and test equipment in the workshop
- Carry out civil works as required
- Install, maintain, and repair ITS and CITS equipment
- Undertake lamping, cleaning, and general maintenance activities
- Conduct site surveys and inspections
- Ensure installation quality and safe working practices are maintained on site
- Understand and adhere to specific contract requirements
- Complete and return all project documentation accurately and on time
- Ensure appropriate PPE is worn in line with RAMS
- Ensure all tools, vehicles, and equipment are safe and fit for purpose
- Confirm all materials required for installation are available
- Attend training courses and toolbox talks as required
- Support KPI delivery for maintenance activities
- Assist Technicians/Engineers with project delivery and successful commissioning
- Comply with all QHSSE regulations and procedures
Your Profile
Essential:
- Civils or construction experience
- Machine/plant operation experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work at heights
- Willingness to work on standby/callout rota and shifts
- Full Category B & C driving licence
- Strong safety awareness
- Abrasive Wheels certification
- Solas Safe Pass
- CSCS Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Roadworks
- CSCS Location of Underground Services
Desirable:
- Electrical or electronic servicing training
- Basic understanding of ITS installations
- Experience within the traffic or highways industry
- Mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
