We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Technician to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex, multi-layered industrial networks in our operation in Dublin.
This is a predominantly hands-on role, ideal for someone with a passion for fieldwork, network architecture, and resilient communications infrastructure. The role involves regular travel to roadside and remote sites to fault-find, maintain, and optimise network operations.
While the primary focus is on industrial networks, the role will also provide occasional support to internal IT systems and users.
Some Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robust, scalable industrial networks including:
- Fibre optic backbones
- Wireless point-to-point links
- IoT device networks
- Monitor and optimise network performance, reliability and security.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments for network installations or upgrades
- Install, configure, and commission networking equipment such as switches, routers, antennas, and media convertors
- Provide Level 2 support for in-house IT infrastructure (Windows Server, Microsoft 365, networking, printers, etc.)
- Assist with backups, patching, and basic cybersecurity controls
- Support procurement and asset management of IT and networking equipment
What we are looking for
In order to fulfil the role successfully the following are some of the key skills and experience required:
Essential
- Degree or diploma in Networking, IT, Electronics, or related field
- Proven experience designing and maintaining industrial or enterprise-grade networks
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VLANs, VPNs)
- Experience with fibre and wireless (especially PtP/LoS) networking technologies
- Proficiency in configuring switches, routers, firewalls (Cisco, OTN, Hirshman, AMG or similar)
- Comfortable working in challenging outdoor environments
- Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills
- Full clean driving license and willingness to travel
Desirable
- Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT, LoRaWAN, Modbus, etc.)
- Knowledge of SNMP-based monitoring tools (e.g.,Solarwinds, PRTG, Zabbix)
- Microsoft 365 and Azure AD administration
- Familiarity with roadside infrastructure, traffic systems, or public sector networks
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+)
