We have a fantastic career opportunity for an HR Officer to join the existing HR team based in Hemel Hempstead. As part of the HR Operations Team, the main purpose of the role is to work with the HR Operations Manager and the HR Business Partners on tactical tasks and strategic projects to ensure that actions support the HR strategy; the Officer will communicate regularly with the Head of HR to facilitate a two-way understanding of business-wide activities. This role is Hybrid working 3 days in the office.
Key responsibilities
- To be the first point of contact for managers / employees with queries, processing where appropriate and advising the HR Business Partner of less routine issues
- To be responsible for administration relating to new starters, staffing changes and leavers – including contracts, letters, reference requests and secondments/transfers - ensuring that all necessary documentation is received in a timely fashion
- Deal with all issues in a professional manner keeping confidences where appropriate and always being mindful of data protection implications
- Provide information to support contract bids and tenders so that the organisation has the best opportunity to be successful
- Give proactive advice and take appropriate actions that will support the organisation’s strategy, through organic growth and acquisition, working with managers on the planning and implementation of organisational changes
- Provide advice and support to managers on both the employment law and people aspects of any change
- With support as required, lead the people element process with regard to TUPE in and out of the organisation, pre, during and post transfer
- Develop and maintain a strong and influential partnership with managers to provide consistently high quality and best practice advice, guidance, and support in all aspects of people management, leading initiatives and building outstanding capabilities throughout the organisation
- Provide generalist HR advice and support to colleagues at all levels of the business, enhancing engagement and driving actions from such activities as Employee Opinion Survey
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of administration relating to HR, including reports and day-to-day requirements
- Liaise with external organisations in a professional manner to ensure relevant key information is shared and acted upon with funding and support being obtained, where appropriate
- To assist in, and undertake, ad hoc projects as requested by the Head of HR

- Experience of working within an HR department and demonstrable understanding of generic HR processes e.g., absence management, recruitment, performance management
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to influence people at all levels of the organisation

- Full driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the UK and reside overnight where necessary, dependent upon business needs
- CIPD qualified, or equivalent (desirable)
- Experience of using computerised HR systems (desirable)
