Description

PoGo Charge have an exciting opportunity for a Pre-Construction Manager to join their busy and growing team. The Pre-Construction manager will be responsible for all aspects of pre-construction for our ultra rapid charging sites, from the point when an opportunity is handed over by the network development team, until each site is ready to begin construction. You will be working on multiple sites in parallel so effective time management is key to success in this role. The role will be Home Based, with regular travel across the country for site surveys, client meetings and meetings with the team in London.

Key responsibilities

  • Working alongside the design team, you will take initial scheme designs and carry them through to construction level drawings ready for the project managers to commence construction
  • Instruct and liaise with survey companies to carry out GPR and topographical surveys of the site
  • Management of contractors during the estimating and design phase
  • Working with iDNO and ICP partners on grid connection designs
  • Working with our legal partners to instruct searches in preparation for finalising the lease
  • Preparing and updating cost books to ensure cost control, escalating over-budget projects immediately for review
  • Engaging with planning consultants and local planning authorities to ensure we adopt the most efficient strategy for each site
  • Coordinating the legal arrangements and wayleaves between iDNO and landowner for substations and HV and LV cable routes
  • Engaging with our energy supplier and meter operator to ensure the site can be metered and energised as efficiently as possible once construction is complete
  • Ensuring all hardware requirements are forecasted correctly and updated as soon as any changes arise
  • Collating Pre-Construction Information packs, reviewing CPPs and RAMS

What we are looking for

  • Experience working as a Principal Designer under CDM 2015 Regulations is highly desirable
  • EV infrastructure experience would be advantageous
  • Either Civil, Electrical or Architectural background
  • Strong, demonstrable project management experience. To succeed in this role you will have to be able to manage 25+ sites in parallel, ensuring each of those is progressed as efficiently as possible
  • Experience working with DNOs is advantageous and understanding how those companies work, their processes, timescales and best ways to accelerate deployment
  • Must have demonstrable experience and knowledge of planning regulations and permitted development
  • Must have experience of similar roles in other industries (i.e. renewables) or in EV charging infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills as this role requires management of landowners, contractors and suppliers
  • Good understanding of civil construction and electrical installation works would be advantageous
