Description

We are looking to recruit Highway Maintenance Electrical Engineers / Trainee Electrical Engineers to join our Highway Field Services team based in Glasgow. You will undertake installation works, pre-planned preventative maintenance and rectify faults on a wide range of ITS (intelligent transportation system) roadside equipment.

The role will predominantly be in the field working on Traffic Signals, VMS and other roadside technology.

Knowledge and experience of fault finding with ITS types of equipment would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given for the right applicants. The successful applicant should have a track record of fault finding, electrical knowledge or transferable skills.

Working hours are Mon to Friday 37.5 hrs with the availability to work overtime.  There is a requirement to work standby usually a 1 in 4-week rota dependent on the contract worked which is reimbursed on top of your annual salary.

Essential

  • A track record of fault finding, electrical knowledge or transferable skills
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Proven ability to balance conflicting requirements to produce practical and effective solutions
  • Must be prepared to make balanced decisions based on fact not thought
  • Works well under pressure
  • Excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Must be IT literate with competency in Microsoft Office software
  • Has verbal skills including tact, diplomacy and persuasion
  • Full driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Ensuring timely delivery of high profile contracts to a local authority client in a busy work environment
  • Previous experience within Traffic Control environment
  • Experience of working in a maintenance team
  • Ability to motivate, coach and/or mentor others to facilitate development of their own skills
  • Hold industry recognised qualifications, New Roads, and Street Works Act
  • Sector 8 accredited
  • Level 2 / level 3 certificate in Highway Electrical work or equivalent qualification such as C&G 263 part 1 and 2.
  • Current edition of BS7671
